"They say attitude is everything. To be a great a singer, you first must be a great listener. Tamara has these natural attributes and more. I have known and worked with her for over 15 years in the capacity of recording and live performance. Her pitch is impeccable. Phrasing and dynamics are always in the right place. When learning new material, she puts her ego in check and focuses on what is right for the work ahead. As a result, she is able to nail challenging parts with consistency, attitude and heart. Tamara is very pleasant to work with. She always conducts herself as a professional. She is my “first call” female singer and without any hesitation, I highly recommend her for voice work."

BIO
Tamara White has a rare and unique ability to take a given vision and create vocal mastery. Whether it be a small project with a vocalist & an instrumentalist, or a larger project involving production of multi-part vocal arrangements. She is always able to provide a sound the client is seeking. The individuals she has worked with can attest to her vocal quality, as well as her drive & dedication to her craft.
Since early childhood, Tamara has been performing a combination of stage and studio vocal work, spanning over two decades. She has worked on original pieces, as well as adding her unique style to cover material. She has worked with a variety of highly talented, award winning musicians, and of them, noting that her vast abilities as a vocalist are characteristically uncommon and individualistic. Her repertoire offers an eclectic mix of musical genres in the interweaving of jazz, R&B, pop, jazz/pop fusion & neo-soul, all with effortless segue in the transfer amongst the musical styles. Tamara provides quality musicianship & vocal prowess, enabling her to produce a body of highly distinctive work.
Originating from a musical and stage performance oriented family, Tamara's mother was a vocalist and ballet dancer. Her maternal grandparents were musically involved in their community; her grandfather was a classical music symphony conductor, and her grandmother sang, taught classical piano, and voice. When Tamara was a toddler, she was introduced to timeless classical pieces, as well as many jazz and R&B combinations. She was influenced to understand that all instrumentation and musical styles have a collective beauty, and because of it, she has true appreciation for all musical instrumentation and vocals.
The development of Tamara's musical talent began with singing and playing self-taught piano at 3, later adding in guitar, and composing her own music by the age of 8. By 4, she was a regular viewer of Soul Train, and she was learning the music to the songs she saw performed. Her first recollection of a favorite album was Stevie Wonder's 'Talking Book'. Of the many great records played in her home, her father had a love for blues & jazz, and her mother, classical and motown. Tamara saw her first live musical production at 8 (The Wiz - starring a young Stephanie Mills), and her first live concert at 9 (The Doobie Brothers); both of which inspired her to appreciate quality performance artistry as well as cementing her desire to become a vocal performer.
Inparticular, Tamara's love for jazz & R&B music would have her sneaking the play of her parents record on the forbidden record player with the valuable diamond needle. She would listen to various musical arrangements by artists such as pop legends - Earth, Wind & Fire, jazz legends - The Crusaders, or R&B legend - Natalie Cole. Tamara learned to stretch her vocal instrument and create differences within her voice by listening to these great artists. She later entered talent shows, and further on, harnessed her vocal abilities to a broader scope by joining several mass choirs. She later performed in several R&B bands throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and later on, she and a musical partner would develop and record original musical arrangements, of which were noted by local pop radio stations, winning fan favor from the public.
Tamara is currently working on her own mix of original material, as well as a tribute CD in ode to various R&B, neo-soul & jazz artists that have musically inspired her as a vocalist throughout her life.
